Involved are the Rodingham brothers, sons of the lord of the manor, shrewd businessman Charles Sturrock, and Charles' wife Julie, a hopeful writer.  Charles thinks it will serve him well to get Julie and David Rodingham to work together on a murder mystery, but that goes better than he can predict.
